Map Modification - Operation Irving CONQUEST
Posted: 21 Oct 2009, 11:52
These are the modifications done so far. At the moment I do not plan to implement further changes.
US side changes
- removal of the F4, replaced by the A1 Skyraider plane
- removal of one UH1 Assault, replaced by UH1 Transport
- Chinook stays in, read about the upgrade of the unit!
- second Sheridan tank, ready for transport
- US mobil spawn box remains, ready for transport
Chinook upgrade !
Usually its a pretty cool chopper once you got it going and know how to handle it. Spicing up the usage, plus giving the US troops better chances against the heavier defended NVA beach, I upgraded its capabilities. By default the co pilot rockets as well the pilot machine gun are pretty decent weapons. Due to the lower speed of the chopper, a return to the base for reloading was always considered to be a pain and often never done. Now the Chinoock does automatically reload. Every soldier hopping into the chopper or getting really close, will receive new ammunition as well. Even an another vehicle getting really really nearby can use the Chinook to resupply. The reloading goes slowly but will be still more efficient than to return to the base.
As well all US soldiers will receive medical assistance while getting close to the Chinook or just hoping into the opening at the end in order to protect themselves against enemy fire. So yes, the Chinook became a true flying fortress!
Furthermore the Chinook automatically repairs himself. Slowly but he does. So it will take at least 3 SA7 at the same time, or 4 SA7 shortly after each other to hit him down. The aim is to position the Chinook much better inside the gameplay and to convert him into some kind of a little base to reload or receive medial assistance, especially in hot front lines.
As well I changed the exit position for seat number 6. Wonder what that is ? Lol, then you never flew the Chinook as a passenger ? So what does this change mean ? It means you jump in as usual using "E", you switch to seat 6 and you press "E" again. You will not fall out of the chopper like before. Your soldier will stand at the rear and you can walk around, looking at your team mates sitting wih the belts on in their seats, or you can toss various items out at the back of the chopper. Your question what ? Well ... some mines, grenades, other bad things ... and due to the automatic reload ... ... wohoo ... sounds interesting ? ... just take care by all the excitment, that you will not fall out of the chopper due walking too far ...
So make use of this new "tool", to summarize, the Chinook reloads himselfs and players as well vehicles nearby. The Chinook does repair himself. The Chinook as well is a flying ambulance, so if your soldier needs some medical treatment, call for Chinook support, hop in and feel well.
NVA side changes
- added a ZSU right next to a BM21 at the temple hill to help defending incoming US choppers
- Bridge control point receives a BM21 right next to the default T54 tank
- Village receives a T54 tank behind the ZSU, at the beach will be a BM21 as well
- two mobil tunnel spawn points, one in the village, the second up at the temple hill
This does increase the anti air capabilties for all control points, including the Artillery hill. US troops are now not overhelming with two attacking Huey Assault choppers, however to remove both Assault Hueys would make the game play too lame. The first rounds did show that if teams are even and at least 6 players on each side, it will be a decent and fun game and especially a really hard fight for both sides in order to win.
