Finally, the ultimate in low-hanging fruit and almost universally more than half of my team, the Recon. Invariably, you will grab a sniper rifle and commence spending the next 30 minutes shooting other recon with sniper rifles three hills away. There appear to be to be two games being played in parallel on any given server. Bad Company 2, and Sniper Company 2:The Snipering. Now with more snipers. On rare occasions one of your stray bullets will hit someone who is not a sniper, at which point a masochistic Medic will leap into the fray and bring him right back. Kudos to you, your impact is almost nonexistent. What can you buy with that? Jack and squat. That isn’t to say there aren’t good snipers, much less good Recon. On defense, spotting enemies regularly, and removing high-value targets can be extremely helpful. Even on offense, a well placed mortar strike can rattle the enemy’s defenses. What we don’t need is 75% of the attacking team doing that. If you absolutely must play Recon, use one of the common pool weapons like a shotgun or the Thompson. If that’s asking far too much of your delicate sensibilities, at least try an SVU Snaiperskaya Short with a 1x red dot scope. It’s much more up close and personal, and worked surprisingly well for me. Also, don’t go for targets of opportunity, go for high value targets. That sniper attempting to shoot at you isn’t going to be nearly as valuable as the chap trying to disarm the M-COM Station, or the Engineer trying to turn your armored vehicles into so many decorative lawn ornaments.
