Bad Company 2 modded servers ...

I just would like to point out a few things regarding modded servers in BC2.
Most of you probably do not know their history, neither most of you care about the technical matters behind.
Reviewing today´s server browser filtered by modded servers:
While these servers run XPx15 or similar, plus modding the maps to eleminate map borders, this might all be up to a certain playstyle an individual player prefers. I do not really have an issue with increased XP consumptions, the game was released in 2010 and newcomers gain much faster higher ranks compared to original BC2 servers. Lots of players believe in higher ranks being required in order to remain competitive … BC2 veterans know that this is not the case and like in lots of games, it is all about hours spent in the game and perhaps on particular maps and skills earned over years enjoying this title.
However,
from the technology point of view modded server setups are able to "trick" the server browser within your BC2 game client and are displayed as official EA servers. But this a fake, EA does not run any official servers for this game. Since day 1 of its release all servers in your server browser were hosted by private clans / communities or put online as advertisment by game server providers on their own costs.
Modded servers are not officially allowed by EA´s terms of services, however due to the age of this game EA does not care much following it up with legal steps as it seems.
I do not support modded servers either, since I consider them as an additional misleading process splitting the shrinking community of BC2 players even more. There have been rumors put in place that EA would close down their official support for BC2 "like yesterday", which is an another false information by modded server owners or players preferring to play on these kind of servers, in order to gain more players popularity on their servers compared to original BC2 server owners. As long BC2 is on sale (either by Origin or Steam), it is unlikely that EA will shutdown backend servers and will keep them up for functionality. This rumor is just an another attempt to speed up the disintegration of this game...
